THE FUEHRER BUNKER is an adaptation of a cycle of monologues by W.D. Snodgrass, featuring a who's who
of one of the most infamous dictatorships in modern memory: The Third Reich. The poem cycle nearly cauterized
Snodgrass' career. Lauded by Robert Lowell, Snodgrass introduced modern confessional poetry, a style later made famous
by Merrill, Anne Sexton, and Sylvia Plath. His censure by academic and literary circles amounted to a subtle form of censorship
of his work over the course of 24 years. Since July 2004, Anne Davison and I have worked to create an original adaptation of Snodgrass'
original 80-poem cycle incorporating traditional and newly composed musical numbers with a dedicated company of actors.
As a company, we believe in Snodgrass' powerful ability to reveal the human soul even in those whose humanity we question.
